OPPORTUNITIES FOR DOCTORS WITH THE EMPLOYMENT TRIBUNALS SERVICE

The Tribunals Service will shortly be recruiting doctors for sessional work sitting on panels to hear appeals from people concerning entitlement to Employment and Support Allowance or Disability Living Allowance.  Doctors sit with a lawyer and review documentary and oral evidence regarding the appeal.  No physical examination is involved.  The work is varied and interesting with doctors deciding their own availability for sessions.  The work does not require a GMS licence to practice and is suitable for part-time or retired doctors (both GPs and those from other specialties).  The competition will be advertised shortly on the Judicial Appointments Commission and the BMJ and other medical publications.

If you would like to observe a session, or request more information, please contact the Regional Medical Member, Dr Mair Bourne by email at mair.bourne@judiciary.gsi.gov.uk by 15 March 2012.
